Product Development Scientist
Location: Chicago, Illinois area
This Product Development Scientist will manage Food Service product development projects from initiation to their completion. This positions requires the ability to conduct product development, stability assessment, concept development, assist with launch preparation and supervision of commercial production for fruit and vegetable smoothies, juice drinks and also other beverage products.
Responsibilities Duties:
Design, develop, conduct and/or review experiments in order to deliver new products: product or packaging safety, evaluate ingredients. This work will involve a laboratory environment.
Demonstrate effective communication skills to translate technical information into easily understood business language for people from outside the field. Manage multiple projects to a successful outcome.
Carries out consumer and food product development activities across multiple product categories.
Provide critical input to a cross functional team including Regulatory, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Marketing.
Develop and maintain SOP’s detailing procedures for food & beverage product manufacturing in keeping with Good Manufacturing Practices.
Be the point of contact to some of our key Food Service customers; bring a proactive mindset and have the goal of meeting or exceeding the customer’s expectations.
The ideal applicant needs to have completed a Food Science curriculum and understand and apply effective skills in microbiology, food chemistry, sensory science, food process technology, record keeping and laboratory safety. Should demonstrate the communication skills necessary to educate, assess needs, identify and resolve product issues and achieve business results.

Job Related Work Experience:
Cross functional and project management skills
Proven experience in product development in bringing new products to market
Dairy and/or protein containing beverage processing experience a plus
Previous experience presenting to external customers a plus
Strong technical fundamentals and problem solving ability

Manage documentation and records in order to ensure that they are complete, current, secure and easily retrievable. This includes designing, organizing or maintaining technical or regulatory records (e.g., paper formula files) and reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with extensive presentation experience.

Packing, general labor straighten, count and unfold product to specification.
Work in various areas of production of the plant as required by production demands

Must be able to tolerate non-temperature controlled environment with very cold/hot conditions.

Production Manager
Perpetually assess current strategies, systems, procedures, performance, capabilities, equipment, facilities, and employees for opportunities to optimize safety, flow, service, quality, and profitability.
Proactively conference and collaborate with customers, sales, and internal/external support resources to evaluate, develop, and promote strategies designed to improve service, flow, quality, and product value.
Willingly undertake and perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Maintain safe, clean, orderly (5s), and environmentally-compliant production operations.
Will have supervisors and lead personnel as well as the hourly production workforce as direct reports.
Provide technical recommendations and implementation for continuous improvement in plant production process

Coordinates and implements predictive and preventative maintenance scheduling
Supervise the installation and repair of all machinery/equipment in conjunction with the day to day activities of maintenance technicians

Production Manager
Communicate to production employees their hours and productivity % ratios weekly.
Responsible for maintaining productivity levels to achieve a cycle time of 7.0 days (minimum).
Manage individual performance in ICAR of all production employees and coach/train as appropriate.
Supervise the parts associate and insure parts procurement processes are followed.
Maintain all repair order and flag technicians pay of process status in CCC management system to reflect vehicle production stage.
Perform assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner that does not expose yourself or other employees to unnecessary risk of injury.
Ensure work areas (bays, paint, details, parts, etc.) are kept clean and orderly and all employees follow safety/OSHA/EPA guidelines.
Twice daily, perform a status review of vehicles scheduled for release two days out.
Inspects all vehicle repairs for quality control prior to paint process, post paint repair and after reassembly prior to customer delivery.
Control, coordinate sublet repairs including glass R&I and replacement.
Ensure all vehicles are disassembled for repair and report additional damage to the Collision Shop manager and estimators.
Write Estimates when needed on on-lot non-drive vehicles.
Attend, coordinate and provide production status updates during daily release meetings.
Responsible for achieving production and maintenance goals of daily and weekly repair activities following EDGE Performance.
Provide direction to all production employees to ensure repair orders are processed according to the repair plan. Adjust the plan as needed throughout the day.
Setup targets with the collision shop manager of production employees for growth.
Generate Supplements and work with the ABM’s on DRP/Fleet required criteria.
Conduct daily meetings with production employees to review daily/monthly goals and repair order status during daily release meetings.
Insure the parts process of fit and returns of parts and cores for credit are followed.
